Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray shared a reminder for Filipinos coping with heavy traffic as the Christmas season approaches.

The beauty queen was among those who experienced Metro Manila’s “carmageddon” on Friday, December 12, describing it as “one of the heaviest traffic situations of 2025.”

“The holiday rush is real — louder crowds, busier streets, and tougher commutes. It’s the kind of day that tests our patience and makes it easy to snap at the people around us,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a photo of standstill vehicles on the road.

“So here’s a gentle reminder to choose kindness, especially toward the strangers we meet,” Catriona added, accompanied by a folded-hands emoji.

“A little gratitude for those who serve us, a little patience for our Grab Drivers powering through the traffic just for us to arrive at our holiday celebration safe and sound,” the beauty queen said.

“Also, let’s appreciate our Grab delivery drivers bringing our meals despite the gridlock. When we make others feel good, we feel good too. And that kindness spreads,” the Miss Universe titleholder added.

“Let’s brush off the small delays and embrace the spirit of bayanihan this season — lifting one another up to make the holidays warmer and lighter for everyone. Happy Holidays!” Catriona concluded.

Her post has garnered 10,000 likes, 1,400 reposts and 56 replies, with some online users thanking her for the reminder.

“Hi, Cat! Thanks for taking time to encourage everyone to be extra kind — Kindness is a superpower!” an X user wrote with a heart emoticon.

“Truly a Miss Universe of values and positivity! That tweet made me happy. Merry Christmas, Queen Catriona!” another X user commented.

“[In] trying times like these, you have a choice. Choose kindness. ALWAYS!” a different X user wrote.

“Thank you for this, Cat. Sobrang needed itong reminder, lalo na ngayon na lahat stressed na at sabay-sabay nagmamadali. That’s my Miss Universe!” another commented.

Filipinos have been experiencing heavier-than-usual traffic as the Christmas season approaches, with more people out buying gifts, attending holiday parties, and completing last-minute errands before vacation.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority reported that the number of vehicles passing through EDSA exceeded 430,000 on the first two Mondays of December, calling it the highest figure the agency has recorded to date.

The MMDA urged the public to use public transportation, such as the EDSA Busway and trains, to help reduce the number of vehicles on the road.
