Volunteer group Cats of McKinley has renewed its appeal for potential witnesses of the April 16 incident to come forward as it continues to seek justice for the mauled community cat, Ghost.
On Wednesday, May 5, the group urged those who may have witnessed the mauling of the beloved feline to come forward as it seeks accountability for the death of Ghost.
“It shouldn’t take a life lost for us to remember what it means to be human. Ghost’s story is not just a tragedy—it’s a mirror,” it said in a statement.
“It reflects the silence, the indifference, and the moments we chose to look away. Compassion is not optional. Accountability is not selective. Every life, no matter the breed or background, deserves dignity,” the group added.
“If this unsettles you, let it. Let it push you to act, to speak, to care—especially when it’s inconvenient, especially when no one else will. If you saw anything, if you know something, don’t stay silent. Silence protects cruelty. Come forward. Do what is right,” it said.
The group ended its post with the “#JusticeForGhost” hashtag.
The renewed appeal came a week after it initially called for more witnesses as it builds an animal cruelty case against the owner of the pet dogs that mauled Ghost.
“Your testimony can make a crucial difference in helping us seek the justice that Ghost deserves. Please be assured that all information shared will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Thank you for standing with us,” the group said last week.

Cats of McKinley has vowed to seek accountability for the death of Ghost, who was described as one of its “kindest” community cats.
The feline was mauled by huskies being walked by a man at midnight along Le Grand Avenue, in front of Tokyo Tokyo, in McKinley, Taguig City, on April 16.
A video of the incident, posted by Kate Madrigal, showed three huskies, while Ghost later died from the injuries she sustained following the attack.
Kate said that the owner of the huskies simply left with his dogs after the incident.
Ghost was rushed to the veterinary clinic but reportedly had to be euthanized due to the severe complications of her injuries.
A rescue group said the mauling incident may be punishable under the Animal Welfare Act, which penalizes acts of cruelty against animals, especially those resulting in death.
