A motorcycle-hailing platform referenced a viral post about an individual who allegedly pretended to be dead to evade financial accountability in one of its social media posts.

On Tuesday, March 17, Angkas shared an illustration of a woman in a brown top and yellow skirt, accompanied by text that read:

“Ako kapag dumaan ‘yung Angkas sa gitna ng dalawang truck.”

It was also posted with the caption: “me otw [on the way] sa budget friendly transient cottages tent pitching adventure.”

The caption also references the Facebook group where the original post was uploaded, titled “DINGALAN AURORA BUDGET FRIENDLY TRANSIENT COTTAGES TENT PITCHING ADVENTURE.”

The post has garnered 115,000 likes and reactions, 11,000 shares, and 1,200 comments from Facebook users, including many who understood the reference.

“Kudos sa admin nitong page. Laging updated, hahahahahaha,” a Facebook user said.

“Sana all updated,” another commented.

“Hahaha updated sa chismis,” a different Pinoy said.

“Na-gets ko na ‘to, hahahhaa,” another wrote.

The reference comes from a post in a Facebook group dedicated to transient cottages, in which an individual warned members about an alleged “scammer” who they claimed pretended to be dead to avoid accountability.

“Baka po may nakakakilala sa kanya, pa-PM po ako, nagpapanggap na patay, makatakas lang sa ini-scam niyang pera. [Two times] na po nagharap sa [barangay]. May kasulatan, may pinirmahan po siya pero ‘di po siya tumupad sa mga usapan,” the post read.

Some claimed it has since been deleted, but screenshots of it have already gone viral on Facebook.

The post included screenshots of a chat claiming that the individual was “already gone.” It also featured a photo of the alleged “scammer” lying on a bed.

The individual was wearing a brown top and a yellow skirt.

Meanwhile, the person on the other end of the conversation did not believe the claim and threatened to post the photo on social media.

“Papanggap kang patay pero pumupuso ka sa message ko,” the individual wrote, referring to their message being reacted to.

The alleged “scammer” then said there was an agreement that she would give money every 15th of the month.

However, the person on the other end reminded her that she had failed to pay the previous month and that the next due date was already approaching.

The post caught the attention of the Facebook page “Follow The Trend Movement,” which turned it into a meme.

“Me kapag hinanap na ng SpayLater,” it said. SPayLater is a “Buy Now, Pay Later” feature of Shopee that allows shoppers to pay for their purchases in installments.

Angkas later joined the trend by referencing the viral post in its social media content.
