Talks of certain shopping mall’s involvement in artists’ career milestones became the talk among Filipinos.
Pinoy pop culture-oriented page “Follow The Trend Movement” or FFTM posted a screengrab from the August 20 episode of the Spotify podcast “Dogshow Divas with Macoy Dubs,” where the hosts talked about Market! Market!
The post showed content creator Macoy Dubs saying, “Kapag naging artista kayo at nagka-mall show kayo sa Market! Market!…”
“You’ve made it,” fellow content creator Baus Rufo continued.
The post has reached 7,700 laughing reactions and over 80 comments on FTTM’s Facebook page.
In the podcast, Baus mentioned that Market! Market! has “good mall shows.”
“‘Pag may artista talaga, ‘di ba, parang ‘yun ang rurok ng showbiz influence and fame,” he added in around the 16:11-timestamp.
“Ito tatandaan niyo — ‘pag naging artista kayo at ‘pag nagka-mall show kayo sa Market! Market!…” Macoy said.
“You’ve made it,” Baus continued.
“You’ve made it,” Macoy affirmed.
“Correct,” Baus said.
“‘Yun na ‘yon,” Macoy added.
“At ‘pag naging artista kayo na wala pang show sa Market! Market!, wala ka pang nararating sa buhay,” Baus said.
“Wala ka pang nararating,” Macoy interjected. “Glorietta, mag-mall show ka? Wala pa ‘yan.”
“Mag-mall show ka sa MOA, wala ‘yan… starlet ka pa lang niyan. Pero ‘pag asa Market! Market! ka na, kahit wala ka pang project actually, makatungtong ka lang sa Market! Market! pwede ka nang magmaganda,” Baus said.
“Oo, kahit intermission number ka,” Macoy added. “Market! Market!, you’ve made it.”
Baus described the mall that “represents the electricity going through the Filipinos.”
“At tsaka, lahat ng tao asa Market! Market! All social classes, ‘di ba, dahil andiyan ang transportation hub, o ‘di ba,” Macoy said.
Entertainment journalist Hannah Mallorca also quipped that people should “trust the Market Market theory.”
When someone asked her about it, the journalist responded: “May something po kasi sa Market Market na kapag nag-perform po ang artists d’un, they hit big right after! And once they hit big, they go big BIG.”
“BINI, Katseye, Earl Agustin, are some of the most recent examples,” Hannah added.
Other online users also recalled other artists who have performed in the mall prior to them becoming big, like the English pop-rock band The 1975.

Market! Market! is a shopping mall complex in Taguig City that boasts of “endless selections at affordable prices.”
Its developer, Ayala Malls, describes it as “oozing with character and brimming with energy.”
It added that the shopping mall is “home to a host of themed bazaars, a hawker’s market, and a bounty of outlet and bargain stores.”
There is also a big transport terminal outside the establishment, making it easy for people to travel to and from the place.
