Award-winning multi-platform anchor and host Cathy Yang recently made waves—not just with her journalism but with her signature hair after a fun mention on the “Dog Show Divas” podcast hosted by social media personalities, Baus Rufo and Macoy Dubs.
In Episode 6 of the podcast, Macoy Dubs shared how he first met Cathy at One News and was struck not only by her elegance and eloquence but also by her perfectly styled hair.
“Alam mo, ako talaga, ang laki-laki ng respeto ko kay Miss Cathy Yap-Yang. ‘Yung ganun noong hair ni Miss Cathy,” Macoy said, gesturing the wavy hair.
“‘Di ba, parang ano ba siya, kontrabida o signatory ng cheque?” Baus responded.
“I met Miss Cathy Yap-Yang when I was [at] One News. She is very nice, very elegant, very eloquent. And then habang kinakausap niya ako, tinitignan ko yung wave nung hair niya. Yung brush up nung hair niya. And then ang sabi ko, kung ang buhok ay magiging surfing destination, buhok ni Miss Cathy Yap-Yang ang magiging destination,” Macoy said.
“‘Di ba?, La Union found jobless. La Union, you can remove all your surfing areas. Miss Cathy Yapyang is here to take over,” Baus replied.
Baus also noted the playful challenge in pronouncing her name, warning listeners that mispronouncing it might get you “whipped with her hair.”
Cathy did not miss a beat in her response, taking to social media with a witty reply.
“Apparently, my hair has officially entered the podcast scene… as a surfing destination! Big love to Macoy Dubs and Baus Rufo for turning my on-air (and livestream) hair into a surf spot—these waves don’t need water!” she said.

Cathy’s lighthearted response got online users amused, with many commending her iconic hairstyle.
“Nakakaloka winner,” an X user commented.
“Hahaah! saw this last night po… made me realize.. oo nga ano? eversince I’ve known Ms Cathy Yang, parang hindi na nagbago hairstyle nya… never kong nakitang maikli… nakapusod…. baka naka-fengshui,” one quipped.
