The supplier of the concessionary beep cards for students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), has reminded applicants that there is no need to reapply for their discount cards.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 3, the beep card management said those who have already applied only need to wait for the schedule to claim their cards at MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 stations.

“Kung meron pa po kayong nagagamit na concessionary beep™ card, hindi nyo na po kailangang mag-apply ng panibagong card,” the supplier of the stored value cards said.

The concessionary beep card is a discounted stored value card for students, seniors and PWDs, which allows them to avail a 50% fare discount when commuting on trains and buses.

The 50% discount will be automatically applied whenever the commuter uses the concessionary beep card, which is white in color.

The beep card supplier said that those who wish to avail themselves of the discount may apply at train stations starting September 15.

Meanwhile, those who have already applied do not need to reapply and can simply wait for the physical card, which will be available starting September 15.

The beep card supplier also advised students, seniors and PWDs to stay tuned to their Facebook page for updates on the discounted card.

The concessionary beep card is a government initiative designed to help ease the financial burden of students, seniors and PWDs.

The discount will apply to their bus and railway commutes until 2028, the same year President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s term will end.

“Alam naman natin ang mga estudyante, PWD, senior citizens ay kailangan ang tulong natin dahil talaga naman very limited ang kanilang income, kaya naisip namin ito maaari nating gawin para tulungan ang ating mga commuter na PWD at senior citizen,” he said before.

The move is part of the government’s efforts to simplify public transport access for priority sectors and improve commuting efficiency.
