Actress Barbie Imperial spoke up after she, along with many netizens, linked a blind item about a woman’s “new posh home in the south” to herself.
On Wednesday, January 21, the showbiz personality responded to a social media post by an online publication that teased a “Lovely Celebrity” whose dream home, it claimed, was not solely the result of hard work but a “grand token of affection.”
“This Lovely Celebrity (LC) is the picture of success. Projects keep pouring in: endorsements, films, events, and a solid presence on social media. She works nonstop, earns well, and proudly tells her rags-to-rewards story. To many, the narrative checks out. But not everyone is convinced,” the post read.
“Eagle-eyed informants who know real estate say LC’s new home is located in an ultra-exclusive village in the south, where house and lot prices can soar above a hundred million. A figure insiders quietly claim is far beyond what LC could realistically afford, even with years of steady work,” it added.
“Whispers grow louder that the property may not be a product of puyat and pagsisikap alone, but a grand token of affection from her rumored married influential lover,” the publication continued.
Barbie, who recently revealed that she is building her dream house in her hometown in Bicol, was affected by the blind item.
“Lol, this is so obvious it’s about me. Hindi na lang kayo maging masaya,” she wrote, resharing the post.
“I can proudly say NO MAN helped me achieve this. Kung sino pa ‘yung sarili mong kapwa Pinoy talaga hihila sayo pababa. God bless you, whoever you are. Makagawa ka lang ng kwento. Bye,” the actress added with a laughing-with-tears emoji.
Barbie also messaged the publication on Instagram, sharing parts of the conversation.
The publication confirmed that it was not about her, saying that it would “not take down the BI [blind item].”
It added that the property’s value and the clue that it’s in a “posh village in the south” place Barbie “outside of the scope of suspects.”
However, the actress insisted the blind item might still be referring to her.
“The details lang kasi pwedeng-pwede ako eh. Bicol is also South. Sweat and tears, like how I said it in my post. Hope you understand that I have to make sure people know it’s not me. Thanks again!” Barbie said with a smiling emoticon.
Blind items are anonymous stories or riddles about celebrities and public personalities, often published on gossip sites or other media outlets.
On Tuesday, January 20, Barbie shared pictures of the groundbreaking ceremony for her “dream home” in Albay, crediting ABS-CBN and its talent management arm, Star Magic, for giving her the projects that made it possible.
“Nakakaiyak kasi sobrang pinagpaguran ko to ng ilang taon… puyat, pagod, at ilang beses na iyak. Huhu, salamat sa Diyos at syempre, sa nag-iisa kong lakas, mama… para sayo ‘to lahat,” the actress said in a Facebook post before.
Barbie recently confirmed that she is dating actor Richard Gutierrez, who previously revealed that he is undergoing an annulment with Sarah Lahbati.
Richard also clarified that Barbie was not the cause of his and Sarah’s separation.
