
Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo shared hat a concerned citizen turned over a substantial amount of cash to her office, after finding it near near a local gasoline station.
Robredo said the individual surrendered P1,000 bills that were found near the Quantum Fuel Express.
According to the mayor, the money was discovered on Thursday, July 9, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:10 p.m.
“If this money belongs to you, please claim it at our office,” she added.
The citizen’s honest act drew reactions from some Filipinos, with several linking it to Robredo’s governance.
“Imagine what country we are going to be if we had an honest leader, everybody follows. Haaay,” an online user wrote.
“Infectious ang honesty ng opisyal ng gobyerno kaya nangyayari ito. Sana po ay mahawaan niyo ang buong Pilipinas ng inyong honesty,” another commented.
“Good Leader Effect,” a different Pinoy said.
“They follow good example of leader,” another commented.
“‘Pag honest ang leader, na-i-inspire maging honest ang mga tao,” a different Facebook user wrote.
Robredo has been known for advocating transparency and accountability in government. During her tenure as vice president, the Office of the Vice President received the highest audit opinion from the Commission on Audit.
