A supporter of Vice President Sara Duterte was called out for posting an altered illustration that had originally been used in her predecessor’s presidential campaign.

A Facebook user expressed support for Duterte’s presidential bid in 2028 in a June 5 post by sharing an artwork that was modified to fit their narrative.

The illustration featured a woman with a ponytail holding a stick topped with an illuminated rose.

It was originally an illustration of former Vice President Leni Robredo, whose presidential campaign featured roses with the theme, “Kulay rosas ang bukas.” Pink served as her main campaign color and was also a central visual motif in the illustration.

The illuminated rose referenced one of her campaign slogans, “Liwanag sa dilim.” It is also the title of a song by the OPM band Rivermaya, which was used during her campaign sorties.

The illustration was, however, altered to be used to support Duterte. The pink color was changed to green, her campaign color.

A text was also added that reads: “The last man standing is a woman. No other than is [sic] Sara Duterte in 2028.”

The last man standing is a woman” is a famous quote associated with Robredo. She popularized the phrase during the 2016 vice-presidential debates and revived it as the only female contender during the 2022 presidential race.

The altered post caught the attention of some Filipinos, who called out the uploader for posting an edited image originally used in Robredo’s presidential campaign.

“Wala talaga kayong magawang matino, ano! Si Ma’am Leni ‘yang nakatalikod na ‘yan eh, tapos ginawa niyong green!” an X (formerly Twitter) user wrote.

Duterte is among the first to have expressed her intent to run for president in the 2028 national elections.

She is set to face an impeachment trial by July, with the Senate serving as the impeachment court.

Duterte is accused of culpable violation of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, bribery, graft and corruption and other high crimes, and betrayal of public trust.

Meanwhile, she previously said that if elected president, she would pursue an independent foreign policy that is neither dependent on the United States nor China and indicated she may take a tougher approach to crime and drugs.
