Google is expanding access to its apparel “Try On” tool, which will begin rolling out in the Philippines in the coming weeks, allowing users to virtually try on clothes using just a single uploaded photo.

The feature is designed to make online shopping more personal by helping users see how apparel may look on their own body before purchasing.

“Whether you’re looking for a cozy cardigan, a fresh look for a summer getaway, or the perfect piece for a job interview, envisioning how you’d look in it when shopping online can be challenging. But today, Google has now made the clothes shopping process easier,” the release read.

The tool is powered by a custom image generation model designed for fashion, which analyzes how clothing interacts with the human body, including how fabrics fold, stretch and drape.

“Try On is powered by a custom image generation model for fashion, which understands the human body and nuances of clothing — like how different materials fold, stretch, and drape on different bodies — it preserves these subtleties when applied to poses in your photos,” the announcement said.

Google said the feature will be available across Search, Google Shopping and Google Images, allowing users to try billions of apparel items in its Shopping Graph.

“Try On lets you shop from the billions of apparel items in our Shopping Graph across Search, Google Shopping, and even product results on Google Images,” it said.

Users can try on tops, bottoms, dresses, and footwear such as sneakers, heels, and sandals by tapping the “try it on” icon, uploading a full-length photo, and viewing the generated result. They can also save and share looks, or proceed to purchase through merchant websites.
