As 2025 draws to a close, Google Philippines has released its Year in Search lists, revealing the topics, personalities, and events that captured the attention of Filipino online users this year.
Topping the overall list is Gemini AI, highlighting both the growing popularity of Google’s AI tool and Filipinos’ increasing reliance on artificial intelligence for everyday tasks and projects.
Beyond AI, current events remain highly searched, with Halalan 2025 results ranking second, reflecting nationwide interest in the midterm elections. Natural disasters also drove searches, with “earthquake near me” among the top queries as several tremors shook parts of the country.
Gaming and entertainment continue to dominate online habits. Roblox’s “Grow a Garden” ranked third overall, while Netflix’s “Squid Game” maintained its cultural impact at sixth place, following its 2025 comeback and series finale.
Streaming shows dominated the Shows & Series list, signaling Netflix’s strong influence on Filipino viewing habits—a trend mirrored in the e-Conomy Report showing the Philippines as the fastest-growing online media market in the region at 16% growth from 2024.
The lists also highlight Filipino pride. Tennis sensation Alexandra Eala ranked first among female personalities and fourth in sports, while boxing legend Manny Pacquiao appeared second in sports. Singer Dionela topped the male personalities list with his hit “Marilag,” beating global hits like Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters song “Golden.”
Other notable searches included education, safety, and civic engagement, such as Khan Academy, LET results 2025, and government-related terms like National ID and eGovPH.
