Filipinos and other visitors can explore the historic Walled City with ease as the Intramuros Administration (IA) brings back its iconic electronic tranvia (e-tranvia).

The e-tranvia is a blue vehicle that tours Intramuros, taking passengers to well-known tourist spots in Manila.

It will pick up passengers at Plaza Roma and operate twice a day daily from Monday to Sunday.

The morning schedule is from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., while the afternoon schedule is from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The ride is free of charge and available for a limited time, accommodating a maximum of 18 passengers on a first-come, first-served basis.

The IA did not disclose how long the e-tranvia will operate.

Last month, the office shared a more detailed post about its free e-tranvia ride.

It said the vehicle will have stops at Intramuros’ most iconic landmarks, which are:

  • Plaza Roma
  • Fort Santiago
  • Centro de Turismo Intramuros
  • President’s Gallery
  • Baluarte de San Diego
  • Gen Lupa Gap
  • Victoria Gap
  • Parian Gate
  • Letran
  • Plaza España

Last year, the IA said that the tranvia ride in the Walled City was exclusive to “Intramuros passport holders,” with the passport costing P350.

In 2024, it was announced that the tranvia could be rented for a fee ranging from P1,200 to P8,000.

The Intramuros Tranvia is a tour vehicle modeled after the streetcars or trams, known as tranvias, that once plied the streets of pre-war Manila.

The tranvia was Manila’s first modern mass transit system, established in 1887 and later expanded and electrified in the early 1900s under the Manila Electric Railroad and Light Company, or Meralco.
