A Filipino brought up the idea of making P-pop girl group BINI‘s “Pantropiko” the Philippines’ official tourism song.
Threads user Mikko James Rodriguez (@mikkology_) raised the idea on the same day the “Nation’s Girl Group” made history as he first Filipino girl group to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
“Where can we sign a petition to make Pantropiko the Philippines’ official tourism theme song?” he wrote on the Meta-owned platform on Saturday, April 11.
“Imagine mo, pag landing-arrival area, tapos may mahabang LED wall leading to Immigration, playing Pantropiko with visuals of the Philippine islands,” Mikko added in a thread.
“Today, it’s BINI, then in a few months, SB19 on the global stage,” he wrote.

The post has garnered 2,900 likes, 55 responses, 225 reposts and 12 shares, with Mikko replying to some Thread users.
“Lalo na ngayon, they’re all over the internet. Perfect for showcasing the tropics of the Philippines. Galaw-galaw, DOT,” he wrote in response to another online user who hoped the Department of Tourism would “think” like Mikko.
“This is wasted leverage. Cultural influence na sana ginagamit para sa turismo, ekonomiya, at national pride, hinahayaan lang dumaan,” Mikko said in another reply to a Threads user who noted that the government “is sleeping on these groups that are raising the Philippine flag.”
Another Threads user also suggested that, apart from “Pantropiko,” P-pop boy group SB19’s “Visa” be played in the Immigration area.
“Hahaha, pwede, pwede!! This makes our airport much better,” Mikko responded with a raised hand emoji.
Meanwhile, “Pantropiko” was the song that launched BINI into mainstream success and earned them widespread attention, paving the way for sold-out shows at the Philippine Arena, Smart Araneta Coliseum and New Frontier Theater. They also embarked on a world tour.
The 2024 song went viral before, earning dance covers and prompting sign language interpreters to groove to the upbeat, summer-friendly track.
In 2025, “Pantropiko” was used by the Singapore Prime Minister as background music for a video of his two-day visit to the Philippines.
The hitmakers
BINI on Saturday, April 11, made history by being the first all-Filipino group to perform at Coachella, an annual grand music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
The festival attracts over 250,000 people each weekend it is held.
The girl group delivered a high-energy set, performing their signature hits such as “Pantropiko,” “Salamin Salamin” and “Shagidi” to the Coachella crowd at the Mojave Tent, where past performers include Ed Sheeran and Carly Rae Jepsen.
Among the attendees was Filipino-American vlogger Bretman Rock, who posted a story of himself watching BINI’s performance with the text, “Binichella duhhh”
BINI is set to perform during Week 2 of Coachella, on April 17 (April 18, Manila time).
