In a heartwarming moment, a school bus driver became emotional when students gave him a birthday surprise.
Nursing student Jazzmine Manaor Aguilar and her classmates organized a secret plan for their driver, Lance, as he drove them home in Cavite.
After learning it was Lance’s birthday, the students bought a cake online after school, then devised a ruse to get him out of the vehicle on March 24.
“We told the driver to engage the hazard on the roadside and said that the rear tyre was flat, even though it was not, so that he could step out of the van to check it out,” Jazzmine said.
Footage shows the girls in white nursing uniforms waiting inside the van, giggling as the unsuspecting driver crouched down to inspect the wheels.
They then flung open the door, called out to Lance, and burst into a rendition of Happy Birthday.
The moment the song hit him, Lance froze. He stood before them, tears streaming down his face, breaking into a wide beam as his students sang.
@im_winterjazziana so we told kuya lance na flat yung gulong sa likod ng service but little did he know that we have planned something for him as a bithday gift. He can be heard saying in the video: “Thank you. Thank you very much,” while dabbing his wet eyes with his shirt.
Jazzmine said they were moved to tears themselves by his raw reaction.
“His reaction was so pure. He really thanked us a lot and even said it was a big thing for him,” Jazzmine said.
The video of the moment has so far garnered 2.6 million views, 469,800 likes, 2,213 comments and 14,000 bookmarks.
