A Facebook post greeting former senator Bong Revilla on his birthday on Thursday, September 25, gained attention amid ongoing claims linking him to the flood control corruption scandal.

The official Facebook page of Bacoor City, Cavite, dedicated a birthday post to the former lawmaker who turned 59 on September 25. It featured his photo.

“Maligayang Kaarawan, Former Senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr.!” it said.

“Isang taos-pusong pagbati sa inyong kaarawan! Ang inyong patuloy na paglilingkod at malasakit para sa bayan ay tunay na inspirasyon sa marami,” the page added.

“Sa bawat hakbang ng inyong buhay, nawa’y samahan kayo ng masaganang kalusugan, kasiyahan, at tagumpay,” the city government continued.

The birthday greeting post has so far garnered over 10,000 reactions, 2,100 shares, and nearly 100 comments, with some Filipinos referencing Revilla’s alleged involvement in the flood control issue in their responses.

“Maligayang Kawatan,” a Facebook user wrote.

“Happy Birthday, Sen. Bong. Sana matupad ang Birthday wish ni Ma’am Kara David,” another commented, referring to the journalist’s controversial wish for “corrupt” individuals “to die.”

“Happy birthday po, Korap Amazing Stories!” a different Pinoy wrote.

“Hapibertdeytuyo, Kap! Alagaan mo mabuti ang iyong kawatan,” another said.

Revilla was among the personalities named by former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) official Henry Alcantara in connection with the alleged kickback schemes involving flood control projects in Bulacan.

Alcantara claimed that, according to DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, insertions in the 2024 General Appropriations Act amounting to P300 million were intended for Revilla.

Old photos of Revilla with Alcantara also gained traction anew, showing them inspecting flood control projects in Bulacan.

Some users recirculated the images amid the ongoing Senate probe, calling them “receipts” of the Revilla and Alcantara’s past connection.

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is currently investigating allegations of corruption in flood control projects, with government officials reportedly receiving kickbacks from the funds supposedly allocated for the initiatives.
