A TikTok video showing a hilariously minimalist office Christmas party setup by an all-male department has amused thousands of Filipinos for its stark contrast to the usual extravagant year-end celebrations in workplaces.

TikTok user Marco Olivares posted a video of their Christmas party setup, sharing that it was already their “maximum effort.”

“Parang mag-iinuman lang ehh, HAHAHA,” he wrote as a caption with a grinning-squinting face emoji.

“Sagad na effort na namin ‘yan, guys,” Olivares added.

“POV: Puro kayo lalaki sa department na magki-Christmas party,” he said in the video with a grinning-squinting face emoji.

The setup included a few dishes on a table, a large soft drink bottle, an icebox, and a handful of gifts, one of which was only half-wrapped, prompting even more laughter from viewers.

The video has earned 24,600 likes, 490 bookmarks, and 342 comments, with some Filipinos sharing amusement at the setup.

“Ganto ‘yung mga solid na Christmas party e, hahaha,” a TikTok user commented.

“Wala ng set-up, purong inuman lang, sagad na effort na ‘yan,” Olivares responded with a grinning-squinting face emoji.

“‘Yung balot,” another user wrote with loudly crying emojis, referring to the partially-wrapped gift on the table.

“HAHAHAHA pinagsipan mabuti ‘yung regalo, tutal, mag-iinuman, baka mabitin. Alak na lang iregalo,” Olivares responded with an emoji.

“Ganto sa branch ko dati. Mga kasama ko, puro tito levels na. ‘Yung ibang branch, may theme theme pa. Kami, ayun, inum lang sila,” another TikTok user wrote.

“Grabe po sa tito levels, pero parang ganun na nga, HAHAHA,” Olivares replied.

The lighthearted clip eventually caught the attention of News5, which reported that Olivares’ group plans to make up for it at their company-wide Christmas party, which will have organizers and a theme.

Office Christmas parties in the Philippines are known to be grand and lavish, with some companies celebrating it in hotels or other similar venues complete with programs like raffle draws and dancing.

Others also include themes to make the event more fun, letting workers get creative with their attire.
