The supplier of beep cards used for railway commute shared the process for qualified individuals to apply for its white Concessionary Card, which offers discounted fares.

On Wednesday, September 10, the beep card management posted a step-by-step guide on Facebook for applying for the special card.

The post said that persons with disabilities (PWDs), students and senior citizens only need to visit any station of the Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1), LRT-2 or the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and follow these steps:

  • Present their valid ID
  • Be ready for encoding and image capture
  • Sign Acknowledgement Form
  • Pay a one-time fee of P30 for the card
  • Card printing and issuance

Beep card management also reminded commuters to load their concessionary beep cards at station tellers, ticket vending machines (TVMs), or via the beep app before use.

The concessionary beep card is a discounted stored-value card for students, seniors and PWDs, offering a 50% fare discount on trains and buses.

The 50% discount will be automatically applied each time the commuter uses the concessionary beep card, which is white in color.

The beep card supplier announced that those wishing to avail themselves of the discount can apply at train stations starting September 15.
