Relieved of duty, Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III visited Rep. Leila de Lima (Mamamayang-Liberal Party-list) to celebrate her 66th birthday on Wednesday, August 27.

In a social media post, De Lima shared photos of Torre’s visit, where he also gifted her a birthday cake.

“Thank you for the visit. Thank you for the greeting. Thank you for the cake, Gen. Torre,” De Lima captioned her post.

De Lima’s executive assistant, Rachelyn Montero, also posted about Torre’s visit and quipped about his cake delivery.

Torre’s courtesy call comes a day after Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced Tuesday morning that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had ordered Torre’s immediate relief as PNP chief, citing a letter dated August 25. He was appointed in May this year and assumed office in June.

The former top cop took a leave of absence from PNP on Wednesday.

During his visit to De Lima, Torre clarified that as “a good soldier,” he has no bitterness against the president.

“Look at me straight in the eye. Do I look like somebody who is bitter? Do I look bitter? I have no ill feelings, I am a good soldier,” Torre told reporters at the House of Representatives, where he visited De Lima.

Following his relief from the PNP post, Torre reshared a post mentioning his traits following his three-month tenure as the country’s top cop. The reshare appeared to be his first social media activity after being removed from his position.
