Pares joint owner and internet personality Diwata finally met his “lookalike” through Nicolas Torre III, general manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
Diwata said he “accepted” the “challenge” of a social media user who urged him to visit the former police chief, saying the two “resembled” each other.
He later visited Torre’s office, where Torre jokingly said that Filipinos “be the judge.”
“Challenge accepted, pinuntahan ko si General Torre,” Diwata wrote on Facebook on Monday, June 29.
“Ayan, ito na ‘yung legit picture, hindi siya AI kasi pinuntahan ko talaga si General Torre, kasi nag-request kayo. ‘Yun nga, totoo ang tsismis, magka-face kami. Char,” Diwata wrote in another post, adding laugh emojis.
Diwata also said he asked Torre to teach him how to use Facebook because he did not know how.
Torre also shared their meeting on his Facebook page, quipping, “Heto na ba ang pagkikita ng magkapatid? O magka-pares?”
“Magka-pares” is a play on Diwata’s pares business, which brought him online fame for serving filling meals at affordable prices.
Pares is a popular Filipino dish consisting of sweet braised beef, garlic fried rice and beef soup.
Diwata initially went viral in 2016 after performing a catwalk at a police station following his complaint that his companions were using illegal drugs.
“Nagmula sa kalangitan, lumagapak sa kalupaan, narito na sa inyong harapan ang nag-iisang Diwata na mukhang kawatan,” he said that time.
