Some Facebook users were accused of being “trolls” after defending content creator Kryz Uy, Slater Young‘s wife, with comments that appeared to follow a script.

A Facebook page reported on the blogger sharing her attire with her Instagram followers, noting her “gradual” return to social media after her husband’s involvement in the Monterrazas de Cebu hillside project.

Monterrazas de Cebu, an upland development, was accused of contributing to the massive flooding in Cebu City during Typhoon Tino‘s wrath in November 2025.

The incident caused her to take a month-long social media hiatus.

Meanwhile, the comments section of the Facebook page that reported on Kryz’s post caught the attention of some Filipinos, who noticed that several accounts defending the lifestyle content creator appeared to follow a script.

Some of the comments included the following:

Some Filipinos noticed the recurring use of “hindi naman” and “nakakapagtaka,” leading them to suspect that the comments appeared to follow a script, a tactic commonly associated with internet trolls.

“Wow, ang daming trolls, iisa ang script,” a Facebook user commented.

“Ang daming bayarang trolls dito, hahaha,” another wrote.

“Huyy Kryz… Hindi naman halata mga trolls dito, ano?” a different Pinoy commented.

The project

Monterrazas de Cebu was described by Slater, an actor-engineer, as his “passion project.”

The hillside development was blamed for worsening the flooding that occurred in Cebu City last year.

Reports said it was the deadliest flooding incident in Cebu Province in the past two decades. It killed at least 96 individuals across the province, including at least 33 people in Cebu City as of November 2025.

The flooding also damaged around 49,670 houses in the Central Visayas Region, with 6,733 of them completely destroyed.

Meanwhile, concerns about Monterrazas’ environmental impact were raised as early as 2023, when a lawyer questioned the capacity of its rainwater management systems compared with the natural absorption provided by trees and soil.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) issued a suspension order in November 2025 after discovering violations, including large-scale tree cutting and excavation.

Authorities said these activities left the mountainside exposed and vulnerable to landslides following the flooding brought by the typhoon.

As of Thursday, March 12,  Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival is facing mounting pressure from the City Council, the Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO) and the Cebu City Legal Office to issue a cease-and-desist order against the project.

Council members said civil works in Monterrazas continued despite the DENR directive.

The project has long drawn environmental concerns because of its location in Cebu City’s mountainous terrain.
