Homes are increasingly being shaped by the way people cook, rest, work and spend time together.

From appliances designed to make daily routines more efficient to technologies that bring more comfort into living spaces, recent developments in the home category reflect a shift toward smarter, more personalized experiences.

Here are the home and appliance updates worth checking out:

Rising energy costs push homeowners to rethink aircon upgrades

For many households, replacing an air conditioner often happens only when the unit stops working. But signs such as longer cooling times, rising electricity bills and uneven comfort can indicate that an older system may no longer meet a home’s needs.

Carrier highlighted how aircon upgrades are increasingly tied to efficiency, comfort and indoor air quality. The company noted that inverter models can help manage energy consumption by adjusting power use instead of continuously operating at full capacity.

Apart from cooling, newer air conditioning systems are also placing more focus on the overall home environment.

The brand pointed to features such as air filtration, quieter operation and smarter temperature control as factors homeowners may consider when upgrading.

The Carrier Aura Split, for instance, comes with Energenius Inverter Technology, Follow Me function, Intelligent Eye Sensor, Silent Mode and 4-Way Airflow, alongside Active Clean and Tri-Filtration System features designed to support a fresher indoor environment.

The company also emphasized that upgrading can be a long-term household decision, as energy savings over time may help offset the initial investment.

Home entertainment

LG is highlighting two premium television technologies aimed at different home cinema preferences: OLED evo and Micro RGB evo.

Its OLED evo G6 AI focuses on contrast and picture precision through self-lit OLED pixels, while its Micro RGB evo AI targets large-format viewing with enhanced color performance for spaces where bigger screens and brighter environments are priorities.

The brand said the two approaches represent different ways consumers can build a premium home theater setup depending on their room, viewing habits and preferences.

Ice solution

The company has been exploring the changing role of ice in refrigerators, referring to it as an “Ice Solution” rather than simply an ice-making function.

According to LG Product Planning representative Sangdeuk Son, “We use the term ‘solution’ because this is not just about making ice, but about solving everyday customer needs.”

The company said consumers are increasingly looking for different ice options depending on their routines, from beverages at home to entertaining guests.

Laundry solutions

LG Philippines also launched its “Experience Korea with LG WashTower™” promotion, giving customers who purchase participating WashTower models a chance to win roundtrip flights to Seoul and other LG appliance prizes.

The campaign comes as the washtower surpasses 3.2 million units sold globally. The washer-dryer combination is positioned as a solution for households looking for a more streamlined laundry setup.

Younger consumers shape the way appliances fit into the home

Simplus marked its fifth anniversary with its “Live Young with Simplus” campaign, focusing on self-expression and modern living.

The brand, with Philippine ambassador Donny Pangilinan, showcased appliances through experiences aimed at younger consumers building their own living spaces.

As part of its anniversary activities, the brand joined Circus Music Festival 8 in Pasig as an official sponsor and created “The Simplus Fair,” where festivalgoers could interact with its appliances.

The company also held a product experience event featuring kitchen, personal care and home living spaces, allowing creators and influencers to explore how appliances fit into daily routines.

Aside from product showcases, the brand partnered with the National Book Store Foundation Inc. for a donation drive at Capt. H. Francisco Elementary School-Annex in Taguig City. They provided school supplies, classroom materials and selected appliances.

Restaurant-inspired cooking closer to home

For households looking to add variety to everyday meals, Hamilton Beach introduced its Air Grill AF06201, combining grilling and air frying functions in one countertop appliance.

The appliance uses high-velocity air circulation and a ceramic grill plate designed to create grilled textures while reducing the need for oil and avoiding traditional charcoal grilling preparation.

Features include Air Turbo 360° Technology, temperature control reaching up to 230°C, preset cooking menus and a design focused on easier cleaning and maintenance.
