The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said it has directed shopping mall operators in Metro Manila to open their parking areas as temporary safe parking spaces for vehicles from July 9 until the typhoon passes.

“Your cooperation in this joint public service effort will greatly help protect lives and properties amid this severe weather event,” it said in a memorandum.
