“Wala nang respeto, siya pa ang matapang!”
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Special Operations Group-Strike Force chief Gabriel Go called out motorists for turning a public road into a parking area.
The MMDA official on Tuesday, May 19, posted a video of their road-clearing operations along Baluyot Street in Barangay Krus na Ligtas, Quezon City, where he encountered individuals who he said attempted to flee from them.
Go called out the motorists for turning part of the road into a motorcycle parking area in front of an auto shop.
They also refused to surrender their driver’s licenses.
One of them was seen exchanging words with Go and talking back to the MMDA official.
The motorcycles were eventually towed for illegal parking.
“At sa haba-haba ng usapan, wala rin namang lisensya,” Go said in his road-clearing video titled, “Mga Violators na hindi lang lumalabag sa Batas, kung hindi wala ring Respeto!”
Go also shared a clip of the incident on his Facebook page, where he called out the motorists for failing to show respect to an authority figure.
“‘Yung nagmatapang-tapangan ka kahit maling-mali ka na at pilit mo pa ring pinaglalaban… Ending… IMPOUND KA PA RIN! Wala [nang] RESPETO, SIYA PA ANG MATAPANG!” he wrote.
“This is the kind of motorist that we have nowadays, kailangan nating pairalin talaga na maibalik ang respeto sa ating mga kalsada kung gusto nating mabago ang magulo nating lansangan at makamit natin ang progresibong katayuan,” Go added.
The MMDA conducts road-clearing operations across Metro Manila to remove road obstructions such as illegally parked vehicles, sidewalk vendors and illegal structures.
The Land Transportation and Traffic Code prohibits motorists from parking their vehicles on sidewalks, paths, or alleys not intended for vehicular traffic or parking.

Last year, the mayors of Metro Manila approved a street-parking ban on national primary roads and a prohibition on parking on national secondary roads in the metro.
MMDA Chairman Don Artes previously said that illegal parking in public streets at the metro is “a major cause of traffic congestion, traffic-related incidents, hindrance to delivery of emergency and essential services, and revenue losses for businesses.”
