A viral clip of an airline passenger preaching during a flight unsettled some Pinoys online.

A TikTok user shared a video of herself “sharing the words of God” on a Cebu Pacific flight to Manila, holding a book as she spoke to passengers.

According to her, she asked for permission before proceeding to preach.

It was unclear whether she was referring to the passengers or the cabin crew, who are responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of travelers during flights.

“Ang pag-share ko ng words of ay [nagpaalam] po ako sa kanila, no [one] can stop sharing if the Lord whispers in me. Thank you, everyone, for spreading this video,” the uploader said in the comments section.

The video concerned several online users, who voiced their worries about the passenger’s activity.

“Let’s not normalize this. Not everyone shares the same beliefs as you, and it’s very inconsiderate of other people’s space. Respect goes both ways, if you want others to understand your faith, it should come from a place of kindness and empathy,” a TikTok user wrote.

“This isn’t the right way to spread God’s word. Let’s choose to be more respectful and mindful of others’ boundaries,” the online user added.

“This can actually lead to complaints and possible restrictions from the airline if deemed disruptive. Faith is personal, but public transport is a shared space that requires consent and consideration,” another commented.

“I find this inappropriate, especially for those who just want to rest. You also have to respect that not everyone shares the same beliefs as you. Next time, may pa sobre na ba? Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Please respect other people’s time and space,” a different TikTok user. wrote

Another Pinoy said that Cebu Pacific noticed their comment about the incident.

“Hello, @Cebu Pacific Air, please address this directly,” the online user wrote.

“Thanks for your feedback. We strive to maintain a respectful environment for all passengers, and our crew is expected to keep activities appropriate. We’ll review this matter to ensure guidelines are followed. We appreciate your understanding!” the airline’s account, managed at the time by a certain “JB,” wrote.

It is not unusual for commuters to encounter preachers on public transportation, particularly in buses.

However, it is rare on airplanes, where passengers are advised to keep their seat belts fastened in case of turbulence.

Airline travelers also tend to be more fatigued than those on land due to the pre-boarding procedures. As such, activities like preaching can be perceived as disruptive to weary passengers.
