A still from the comedy-drama film “Bar Boys” generated buzz online as the Supreme Court released the list of those who passed the 2025 Bar Examinations.
Entertainment website Cinema Bravo on Wednesday, January 7, posted a still from the 2017 movie, which features a group of friends aspiring to become lawyers.
The still shows Rocco Nacino‘s character, Torran Garcia, who pranks his family into thinking he did not pass the Bar exams, one of the highlights in an aspiring lawyer’s life.
However, Torran’s family also surprises him by presenting an alternative tarpaulin congratulating him on his efforts and wishing him luck for the retake.
The first tarpaulin, meanwhile, congratulates him on passing the Bar.
“Congratulations, Torran Garcia, for doing your best. Good luck next time!” the second tarpaulin reads.
Cinema Bravo featured the moment on its social media accounts following the release of the real-life Bar exam results, which were completed by 11,420 aspiring lawyers.
“PASADO MAN O BAGSAK, CONGRATS PA RIN (HINDI ‘PARIN’ ANG SPELLING)!” it said in a caption.
The post has garnered 8,500 likes and reactions, 535 shares and more than 50 comments.
“Hahahhahaha. I love this scene. Pasado din pala,” a Facebook user wrote, referring to the fate of Rocco’s character.
“Appreciating the hard work of your loved one is the best thing you can do, unconditional and immeasurable,” another commented.
“Prepared,” a Facebook user commented with a laughing emoji.
“Kidding aside, families like these are worth fighting for,” another Pinoy said.
The Supreme Court announced that 5,594 takers successfully passed the Bar.
The number of passers is higher than 3,962 who succeeded in 2024.
The high court said that the 2025 Bar exam had a passing rate of 48.98%, up from last year’s 37.84%.

Meanwhile, 2025 Bar Committee Chairperson Associate Justice Amy Lazaro-Javier encouraged those who did not pass the exams to allow themselves to process their emotions and return stronger.
“Grieve today, cry it all out, feel the pain, relish the sorrow, it’s alright, it’s part of being human. But tomorrow, find the strength to rise again, wipe the tears away, pick up the broken pieces, go out, try again,” she said.
“Soldier on, never stop trying to reach your goal. And when you do, I will stand on the finish line with you still as your proud Bar mom,” Lazaro-Javier added.
Among those who passed the 2025 Bar exams is actor Nico Antonio, who portrayed a lawyer in the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “UnMarry.”

The Bar is the qualifying licensure examination administered by the high court that tests aspiring lawyers’ knowledge of fundamental legal principles and the basic skills required of an entry-level lawyer in the country.
It is the only qualifying licensure examination among skilled professionals that is not conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission.
