Complaints about the “slow” service of a same-day delivery platform have been raised by some Filipinos using the app to send their orders and packages.

A Reddit user on Monday, December 1, shared that they received a package from Lalamove “two hours” after booking, despite selecting the “Regular” option in the app.

In the app, users can choose from three types of delivery services after selecting their preferred vehicle: Priority, Regular and Pooling.

The Priority option is the fastest, with the app promising delivery in less than one hour, but it is also the most expensive.

The Regular option offers standard delivery, while the Pooling option is the most affordable. However, delivery under Pooling may take up to two hours.

The Reddit user complained that they received their parcel “two hours” after booking a Regular service, adding that it would have had the same estimated delivery time if they had chosen the Pooling option.

“I raised this issue to the driver and he said that his cut would be low if he [were] to deliver solely just my parcel (regular rate priced at P131), so he went around and ACCEPTED OTHER ORDERS on the way to me — which is what the For Pooling service do,” the Redditor wrote in the “r/Philippines” community.

“He went from Cainta, to Mandaluyong, to Makati, to Taft, and THEN to my place. It’s my first time booking the Regular delivery rate, and it’s shocking that it is THE SAME ETA as the For Pooling rate, and the only difference is the price. I basically paid extra for nothing,” the Reddit user added.

“The driver told me to book Grab next time if I wanted a much faster booking. Grabe, never Lalamove again,” the Redditor said.

The Reddit user also attached screenshots of their conversation with the rider, who told them they should have chosen a different delivery service for faster delivery.

The rider added that he would be “at a loss” if he only delivered the user’s item for P131.

The post has received over 530 upvotes and more than 220 comments, with some users sharing similar experiences.

“What’s worse is kahit naka priority ka, kukuha parin ng ibang byahe for the very same reason na sinabi kay OP [Original Poster]. Never trust Lalamove ‘pag urgent ‘yung item mo,” another Redditor said.

“Yes, na-experience ko ‘to. Priority bayad ko since fresh seafood, pero kumuha pa ng booking. Never again,” a different Reddit user commented.

“Kaya never na ako gumamit ng Lalamove eh… nag-prio ako pero [three hours] bago dumating sakin kasi sobra dami sinasabay tapos ino-off GPS,” another Redditor said.

“Na-experience ko rin ‘toooo! Sabi sakin, minimum daw talaga nila ‘yung [two] booking na magkasabay, lol,” a different Reddit user wrote.

A Redditor claiming to be a Lalamove rider shared a tip for bookers in the post’s comments.

“‘Pag malayo o lampas [three or four] cities na pagde-deliveran ng item mo, mag-Grab ka na lang. Maraming rider diyan, paiikut-ikutin pa sa kung saan-saan ang item mo bago mahatid. Iilan lang kaming matino diyan. Hahahaha!” the user wrote.

Lalamove has yet to respond to Interaksyon’s request for comment as of writing.

The same-day delivery service can be used to transport goods, documents and other items.

The app notes that the estimated time of arrival shown on the map is “only for reference and may change due to unforeseeable reasons such as traffic and weather conditions.”

“Should there be any issues, you may also click the ‘Chat’ button to use the in-app chat feature to talk with the driver directly,” the delivery service stated on its FAQs page.
