A same-day delivery driver became the target of a road-rage incident while attempting to deliver a parcel inside a gated subdivision in an undisclosed location.

Dashcam footage shared by automotive publication VISOR shows the Lalamove driver approaching the subdivision to hand over the item.

The client had coordinated with the security guard to have the gate opened for the driver.

When the Lalamove driver approached the gate, a van suddenly exited the subdivision, even though it was still a considerable distance from the entrance.

The Lalamove driver stopped after sensing that the van was speeding.

The van then stopped outside the gate and blocked the Lalamove driver from entering.

The van driver stepped out and asked the Lalamove driver to exit the vehicle.

“Pinaghahampas na ‘yung kotse ko at hinila ang door handle ng sasakyan ko,” the sender of the video was quoted as saying.

“Mabuti na lang po at naka-lock ang lahat ng pinto ko at hindi nasira ‘yung bintana sa hampas niya. Dahil kung nagkataon, wasak ang mukha ko sa basag ng salamin — na pinagpapasalamat ko sa Panginoon na hindi nabasag at prinotektahan ako ng sasakyang dinadala ko,” the sender added.

The Lalamove driver said his hood was dented and the driver-side door handle was damaged as a result of the incident.

“Pinilit na lang naming ayusin ng guard na tumulong sa akin, pero wala na — hindi na maayos katulad ng dati,” the driver said.

The post has garnered 338,000 views, 4,300 likes and reactions and 2,100 comments from Filipinos who called out the van driver for his behavior.

“SCO ‘yan, considered Road Rage,” a Facebook user wrote, referring to Show Cause Order.

“Loko ‘yung driver ng van ah!!! Sana mabigyan ng justice!” another commented, tagging the Facebook page of the Land Transportation Office, the agency that issues driver’s licenses.

“Nag-tantrums ba naman,” a different Facebook user said.

“Ang layo niya pa sa gate, naka-harurot, palku alphakapalmuks,” another Pinoy commented.

It is a defensive driving practice to slow down at gates and other vehicle entry or exit points to avoid the risk of collisions.

Meanwhile, road rage is defined as “a motorist’s uncontrolled anger that is usually provoked by another motorist’s irritating act and is expressed in aggressive or violent behavior.”

Drivers are advised to focus on their destinations and refrain from taking situations personally to help prevent road rage incidents.
