Looking for encouragement and a deeper encounter with God’s Word? Organizers say the upcoming Word Conference, or WordCon, aims to do just that.
Set for Nov. 29 at Fr. Rhoel Gallardo Hall at Claret School of Quezon City, the one-day hybrid event carries the theme “A Pilgrimage of Hope: Walking in God’s Word… I have put my hope in Your Word,” inspired by Psalm 119:81.
Organized by the Claretians with partner institutions, the gathering offers talks, reflection periods and activities aimed at helping participants listen to, learn from and live the Scriptures.
Part of the Church’s observance of the Jubilee Year 2025, the conference seeks to deepen the faithful’s engagement with the Scriptures amid Pope Francis’ call to “fan the flame of hope” and approach the future “with an open spirit, a trusting heart and a far-sighted vision.”
Fr. Amador Tumbaga, provincial superior of the Claretian missionaries in the Philippines, said the event comes at a moment when many are searching for grounding in faith.
“In our journey through life, through moments of distress, confusion, and even abandonment, God’s word is the compass that gives us direction,” Tumbaga said. “It is the powerful promise of salvation, love, comfort and perseverance.”
He encouraged Catholics to take part in the gathering, saying it offers an opportunity to be strengthened in faith and hope.
“The Word Conference is an opportunity to nurture, strengthen your faith, and to embrace the theological virtue of hope. It is where we place our trust in the promises of Christ,” he said.
“So come, let us walk together on this Pilgrimage of Hope. Put your hope in His Word,” Tumbaga said.
First held in 2018, WordCon was created to help the faithful grow as “servants of the Word.”
