
MANILA — At least two people were killed by the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck offshore in the southern Philippines, an official from a regional civil defense office said on Friday.

Karlo Puerto, an information officer with the Davao region’s civil defense office, said by phone that both fatalities were from Mati City in Davao Oriental province.
