The delivery rider who was recorded saving his bike amid flooded streets in Manila weeks ago was given the opportunity to secure a driver’s license, thanks to a driving school.

Delivery rider Jonas Rodriguez was spotted attending a seminar by the Majesty Driving School, which volunteered to sponsor his driver’s license application, from the Theoretical Driving Course to securing a non-professional license.

Photos of the event were posted by the driving school on its Facebook page on Friday, September 5.

“Konting [tiyaga] na lang, magkaka-lisensya ka rin,” it said with emojis of a heart and a folded hands.

The driving school took notice of Rodriguez on Friday, August 29, after seeing videos of him saving his bike from knee-deep floodwaters beneath the LRT-1 Pedro Gil Station on August 22.

“Kung nasaan at sino ka po, magpunta ka sa any branch namin. Sponsoran ko na ang TDC [Theoretical Driving Course], PDC [Practical Driving Course], Student Permit, Medical, hanggang NON-PRO, ako na magbabayad ng Driver’s License mo sa LTO,” it said before.

“Non-pro” refers to a non-professional driver’s license, while LTO refers to the Land Transportation Office, the government agency issuing driver’s licenses to individuals.

The uploader, Junel Collamat, previously shared a video of Rodriguez saving his bike after a passing bus created waves in the flooded area, causing the bike to topple over.

According to Collamat, the rider had briefly leaned his bike against a post to take shelter from the heavy rain before the incident occured.

The uploader also included the hashtag “#floodcontrol” in his post, referencing the public discussion on flood control project issues.

Following the virality of the video, Rodriguez was later given a motorcycle by Lokal Garage, a motorcycle dealership business.

“Maraming salamat po sa opportunity para magkaroon po ako ng sariling motor, sobrang laking tulong po nito sa katulad ko na naghahanapbuhay para sa pamilya,” he said in a TikTok post before.
