A delivery rider was seen desperately trying to save his submerged bike in the middle of the flooded streets in Manila.
TikTok user Junel Collamat posted a video of the rider attempting to keep his bike upright in the knee-deep floodwaters beneath the LRT-1 Pedro Gil Station on August 22.
He also included the song “Upuan” by Gloc 9 and Jeazell Grutas, which uses the metaphor of a chair to symbolize the comfort of those in power, while ordinary people endure poverty.
In an interview with IBC TV 13, Collamat shared that before the incident, around 11 a.m., the rider had briefly leaned his bike against a post to take shelter from the pouring rain in the area.
Shortly after, a bus passed, creating waves that submerged his parked bicycle.

Collamat also added the hashtag “#floodcontrol” to his post, as the issue was being discussed in the news.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. previously flagged certain contractors who, he said, were awarded the most flood control projects in the country.
However, Marcos cited that many of the flood control projects initiated since 2022 lacked key details, with 6,021 out of 9,855 failing to specify the type of structures built.
He mentioned the flood control issue in his fourth State of the Nation Address last July, as the country entered the rainy season, during which some low-lying areas, especially in the metro, are prone to flooding.
Meanwhile, TikTok user Jonas Rodriguez identified himself as the rider in the video through the comments.
Collamat also said he was able to have a video call with the rider, as “so many people want to send him help.”
