‘So so so honored’: Liza Soberano expresses gratitude for role in DreamWorks’ ‘Forgotten Island’

Actress Liza Soberano shared an appreciation post following the trailer release of the Hollywood animated feature film “Forgotten Island,” in which she voices one of the main characters.

The Filipino-American actress on Thursday, March 26, posted photos of her with fellow half-Filipino artist, H.E.R., who also served as a main voice actor in the fantasy-adventure film.

“Cheeky little appreciation post for @forgottenislandmovie, I have so much love for the whole team behind this project,” Liza wrote in an Instagram post with a heart emoji.

“I’m so so so honored and proud to be a part of such an amazing film that showcases Filipino culture and talent!! Did everyone like the trailer?” she wrote, adding a pleading face emoji.

Liza’s post has garnered nearly 72,000 likes and congratulatory comments from various personalities, including drag queen Manila Luzon, actors Janine Gutierrez, Carla Abellana, Gabbi Garcia, KC Concepcion, Dolly de Leon, nail artist Mimi Qiu Reyes and TV presenter Gretchen Fullido.

Liza voices Raissa, one of the main characters in “Forgotten Island,” whose trailer was released on Thursday.

The animated film is produced by DreamWorks Animation and directed by Fil-Am filmmaker Januel Mercado and Joel Crawford

Inspired by Philippine folklore, the film follows two best friends, Raissa and Jo, as they are transported to a long-forgotten magical island filled with mythical creatures and adventures.

The two high school graduates accidentally find themselves on Nakali, a mysterious island inhabited by creatures from Filipino folklore.

The film features a predominantly Filipino cast, including the voices of Dolly, Lea Salonga, Manny Jacinto, Jo Koy, and Amielynn Abellera.

“Forgotten Island” is set to premiere in cinemas worldwide on September 25.
