The Olympics took notice of Olympic double champion Carlos “Caloy” Yulo’s reaction to a surprise thrown for him after winning gold at the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
On Monday, October 27, content creator Chloe San Jose shared photos and a video of her boyfriend being surprised by family and friends upon his return to the Philippines following the event.
“Woke up from our long nap coming from our flight from Jakarta to Manila early this morning, still half-asleep and in our pambahay when… SURPRISE!!” she wrote in an Instagram post.
“Excuse our sleepy faces and pajama, but this moment means the world. No fancy setups, no grand gifts; just the truest form of love, laughter, and the people who’ve been with us through it all when everything was uncertain,” Chloe added.
“It’s really not about the material things, but the presence, the memories, and the hearts that stay constant. Thank you to our small but genuine family and circle of friends, for always showing up and reminding us what matters most,” she continued.
In the video shared by Chloe, Caloy is seen opening a door and looking toward his girlfriend.
Suddenly, the lights are turned on and the group yells in unison, clearly startling the gymnast.
Caloy places his hands on his chest in evident shock, then bends slightly, stands upright, and once again puts his hands over his chest before clapping in appreciation of their effort.

The comment has received over 240 likes and several replies, including one from Caloy himself.
“Always grateful,” the gymnast replied with folded hands emojis.
Other users also noticed Caloy’s reaction to the surprise party.
“Hahaha, ‘yung gulat niya! Congrats, Caloy!” host-singer Jasper Tiongson wrote.
“Gosh, Caloy!!! Haha!!! Your reaction! Congratulations! Hope to see you guys soon!” another Instagram user commented with emojis.
“Carlos Yulo, ginulat ang Pinas, HAHAHAA! Congrats sa inyo!” exclaimed a different Instagram user.
