A rider who attempted to pass through a rally held by the religious organization Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) allegedly received death threats and had his motorcycle key taken from him.

A Reddit user on Wednesday, June 30, shared a video of the rider being confronted by some INC members during a rally in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, a fellow member, who is set to face plunder charges.

“Rider na sumubok dumaan sa rally, hinarang at kinuha ang susi ng motor saka pinagbantaan papatayin,” the Redditor wrote in the “r/pinoy” community.

The video showed the rider expressing frustration after claiming that the rallyists had taken his motorcycle key.

“Ano ba ‘yang pinaglalaban na ‘yan? Bakit ganito? Tao rin naman ako dito sa Pilipinas ah!” he exclaimed.

“Tao ka nga, ‘wag ka nagsasalita! Gusto mo bang mamatay?!” someone, presumably a rallyist, retorted back while gesturing with a finger.

A police officer wearing an athletic uniform later approached the rider.

“‘Wag ka masyadong ano, kuya… ‘wag ka masyado ano, kasi dito, madami dito…” the police officer said.

Someone then called for the rider’s motorcycle key to be returned to him.

“Nakakaawa marinig ‘yung sinabi niyang, ‘Tao rin naman ako dito sa Pilipinas ah!'” the uploader said.

“‘Di man lang napagtanggol ng pulis?” another commented commented.

“Pare-pareho lang tayo na sinusubukang mag-survive sa hirap ng buhay. ‘Di ba religious rally ‘yan? So bakit ganyan mga panananalita niyan?” a different Pinoy asked.

“Nothing against PNP, pero ano ginagawa ng isa diyan? To serve the country ‘di ba, o kapatid ‘yan,” another commented.

Rally for Marcoleta

The INC staged a surprise rally on Tuesday along EDSA, significantly affecting Filipinos traveling to work, school, and other appointments due to the heavy traffic congestion it caused.

The rally, which had no permit, was held to express support for Marcoleta, who is set to face plunder charges over undeclared election campaign donations totaling P75 million, dating back to his senatorial run.

State prosecutors also noted that the amount was not declared in his Statement of Liabilities, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) as of June 30, 2025.

The Ombudsman further said that the donor’s tax for the P75 million was paid only in December 2025, which prosecutors argued was belated and indicative of concealment.

Marcoleta, for his part, said he did nothing wrong and claimed the allegations were connected to his investigation into the flood control scandal during his tenure as chair of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

“Kaya, nais naming iparinig sa mga kinauukulan na kahit ipakulong nila si Sen. Marcoleta, hindi kami titigil sa paghingi ng katarungan para sa mga kababayan nating ninakawan,” INC spokesperson Edwil Zabala said.

“Gusto namin ipaalam sa kanila na isang injustice ang selective justice. At hindi kami mananahimik sa harap nitong napakalaking pagyurak sa katarungan na hinihingi ng ating mga kababayan,” he added.

The INC has already secured a permit for the second day of its rally on Wednesday, July 1.
