A food delivery platform explained that there was a “glitch” in its app after users noticed images that did not match the menu offerings of restaurants and other food establishments.
Food delivery app foodpanda users were flabbergasted to find that some images accompanying menu items in the app did not match the actual products.
Some saw raw meat instead of a chicken dish, while others were showb completely unrelated images, such as a spray can instead of a food item.
“Chowking PH, anyare sa app niyo, may mga hilaw na karne, ano ‘to, kami pa magluluto, may LUYA pa. Hayup, na-hack ata foodpanda niyo. Nawala gutom ko kakatawa, BWHAHAHA,” an online user wrote on Threads on June 19.

Another shared that the food delivery app may have a “bug” and shared screenshots from another food establishment. The images showed squid and apples instead of the usual fast food offerings.

“Yes, Jollibee? Pwede na pala ako um-order ng hilaw sa inyo. Oo, foodpanda. Make it more accurate. May fish product pala ang Jollibe,” another wrote.

Foodpanda later released a statement addressing the glitch, admitting it was due to a technical error on their part.
“Some app images were acting a li’l SUS but we’ve found the impostor and fixed the mix-up. Thanks for bearing with us, besties,” it said in a social media post on June 19.
“To clear the air for our community and restaurant partners: this was purely an image display glitch. Everything behind the scenes, including user data, item pricing, and merchant order routing, remains entirely secure and untouched,” the delivery app added.
“Our tech team is already digging into the root cause so our listings behave themselves moving forward. We’re keeping a close watch on this and will share more updates if needed, but for now, your favorite menus are fully back,” it continued.
Food delivery platforms are known to feature images of restaurants’ menu offerings in their app, allowing customers to view products at a glance. These images also help set expectations and can drives sales.
