Relief efforts continue following the Magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao on Monday, June 8, with free services and donation channels made available to support affected communities.

E-commerce platform Lazada is enabling users to send donations through its app, connecting contributions directly to partner humanitarian organizations including the Philippine Red Cross, GMA Kapuso Foundation, ABS-CBN Foundation, HERO Foundation, UNICEF Philippines, Caritas Manila and Habitat for Humanity Philippines.

“The needs of affected communities remain significant, and recovery will take time. We encourage our customers, partners, and the wider public to support trusted organizations through LazadaForGood. Every contribution can help deliver essential assistance to families affected by the earthquake and support their journey toward recovery and rebuilding,” Carlos Barrera, CEO of Lazada Philippines, said.

Donations are processed through a secure in-app system as part of a social impact initiative launched in 2019.

Meanwhile, free funeral and deathcare services have been offered for families who lost loved ones in the earthquake, with assistance available through operational branches of  StPeter Life Plan and Chapels in General Santos, Koronadal, Davao, Digos, Malita, Calinan and Toril.

The provider said the initiative is part of its continuing commitment to assist communities during times of crisis and is coordinating with local authorities to extend its reach.

Government agencies have activated a whole-of-government response focused on relief operations, infrastructure assessment, and assistance to affected residents.

As recovery continues, free services and donation channels remain open to help communities access immediate support in the aftermath of the disaster.
