An e-bike rider was spotted traversing the EDSA bus lane, which is exclusive to buses under the EDSA Carousel system.
Automotive publication VISOR on Thursday, May 21 posted a video submitted by Sean Monteverde, who called out an elderly man for riding his e-bike in the bus lane.
“Naka-e-bike si lolo sa EDSA Carousel. Wala man lang active na enforcer kahapon. Nakatulala talaga si lolo,” he was quoted as saying.
The e-bike rider was spotted riding closely beside the buses.
The post has garnered 358,000 views, 3,100 likes and reactions and over 360 comments, with some calling him out for the reckless move.
“Tapos kapag naipit o nabangga ng carousel, damay pa driver,” a Facebook user wrote.
“Priority lane siya…” another commented.
“Ni-literal ni Tatay ‘yung priority lane,” said a different Pinoy, referring to the lane exclusive for seniors, pregnant women and persons with disabilities in establishments.
The EDSA Busway is an exclusive bus lane for EDSA Bus Carousels.
It is also used by on-duty ambulances, fire trucks, Philippine National Police vehicles and service vehicles performing duties for the busway, including construction, security, janitorial and maintenance services.
The bus lane can also be used by the country’s highest-ranking government officials, including the President, Vice President, Senate President, House Speaker and Chief Justice.
There are times, however, when traffic enforcers allow other vehicles to use the exclusive lane.
