Leading mall operators across the Philippines have announced adjustments to their operating hours in response to the ongoing National Energy Emergency.
These include Araneta City, Ayala Malls, Greenhills Malls, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, Opus Mall, Robinsons Malls and SM Supermalls.
Most revised schedules will take effect beginning Monday, March 30, with some locations implementing staggered changes.
These coordinated efforts reflect a shared commitment to energy conservation and operational efficiency.
The mall hour adjustments follow President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s declaration of a state of national energy emergency on March 24, prompted by escalating tensions in the Middle East and the resulting risks to global energy supply.

The declaration cites “imminent danger” to the country’s energy security due to uncertainty in global energy markets, supply chain disruptions, and rising international oil prices. It authorizes the government to implement coordinated measures to stabilize supply and mitigate economic impact.
A dedicated inter-agency committee has been formed to ensure the orderly movement and availability of fuel, food, medicines, agricultural products, and other essential goods.
The emergency declaration will remain in effect for one year, and includes provisions allowing the government to procure fuel and petroleum products, including advance payments when necessary, to secure adequate supply.
