Pole vaulter EJ Obiena tried a different kind of “vault” as he showcased some gymnastic moves, tagging gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Eldrew Yulo.

On Monday, March 16, the athlete shared a video of himself attempting the gymnastic manuevers while performing a vault.

In gymnastics, a vault is a maneuver where the athlete runs down a runway, jumps on a springboard or vaulting table and uses the momentum to propel themselves upward, landing hands first.

“When I try to be like @c_edrielzxs or @karll_yulooo,” EJ wrote in an Instagram post, tagging the accounts of Carlos and Eldrew.

“Congratulations, @karll_yulooo, for the recent WIN,” he added, referring to Eldrew earning gold in the seniors level after ruling the floor exercise of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series in Turkey on March 14.

“PS: Thank you, Coach Reyland, for the assist!!!” EJ added.

He also added the hashtags #parasabayan and #fail in his post.

EJ’s post has earned over 6,000 likes on Instagram, with some commenters joking that the Yulo brothers should try pole vaulting too.

“Petition for @c_edrielzxs and @karll_yulooo to try pole vault!!!” an Instagram user wrote with a laughing emoji.

“Want to see this!!!” EJ responded in the comments section.

“Maybe because you forget you don’t have the stick. Char!” another commentedwith a laughing emoji.

“Definitely!!!” EJ responded.

EJ is a pole vaulter, a sport that gained mainstream recognition in the Philippines when he won medals in international competitions.
