A thief in Iloilo walked away from a sari-sari store with a stolen wallet, only to discover that it contained nothing but crumpled receipts.

Reports said that a man entered an unguarded sari-sari store in Guimban on February 25, looked around for a while, and then grabbed the wallet from a table.

“Good morning. Maybe you know who this is,” Facebook user Mitchel Lastimoso wrote.

“They’ve been loitering [or] hanging around early this morning at Auntie Hilda’s store (Ramhil Store) here beside the high school, near the ‘vanishing mansion,'” she added.

Lastimoso also urged Facebook users to share the video to help identify the culprit.

Reports said that, according to the sari-sari store owner, no one was manning the store when the theft occurred.

The stolen wallet only contained receipts and no cash.

Meanwhile, the incident gained attention among Filipinos, who shared various reactions to the situation.

“High risk, no reward si ya [kuya],” a Facebook user commented.

“Di mo alam kung biktima ba ‘yung suspect,” another wrote with a grinning emoji.

“Lesson din ito na hindi lahat ng ninanakaw may halaga at mas mabuti pa ring maghanap ng marangal na paraan,” a different Pinoy said.

“Paldo na sana, naging dead spin pa,” another said.

“Mission failed successfully,” a different Facebook user commented.

“Karma is real, jod, hahaha,” another Pinoy wrote.

Last year, a theft at a sari-sari store in Mandaluyong also went viral when the suspect attempted a “mano po” gesture to an elderly person who woke up during the incident.
