Drunk individuals reportedly knocked down statues of superhero characters at a plaza in Iloilo.

Police Major Bryan Alamo, chief of police of the Pototan Municipal Police Station, said drunk people attacked the statues of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman that served as decorations in Pototan Plaza.

He said the drunken individuals were taken into custody.

“The superheroes involved couldn’t put up a fight and ended up getting knocked down,” Alamo said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, December 30 as translated into English.

Reports note that plaza maintenance personnel discovered the fallen superhero figures at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

It prompted the review of CCTV footage, which revealed seven individuals walking towards the playground and climbing over the wall.

They then ganged up on the superhero figures and were later arrested at their homes after their faces were identified in the footage.

When questioned, the individuals said it was merely “for fun.”

Two individuals were detained for malicious mischief, while six of them, who are minors, will be turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Pototan.

Meanwhile, the Pototan police reminded the public not to cause trouble or behave disorderly in public places such as plazas.
