Motorists are reminded to stay alert after dashcam footage of two motorcycles colliding on a Metro Manila highway was shared online.

Automotive publication VISOR posted the video on on Tuesday, January 13. It shows a four-wheel vehicle driving on the highway when a motorcycle approaches from the right side around the 0:06-second mark of the video.

By the 0:09-second mark of the footage, the motorcycle collides with another bike that recklessly switches lanes, sending the first motorcycle to the ground while the second rider speeds away.

No additional information about the location or the riders’ conditions has been disclosed.

“Presence of mind is important,” VISOR said in a caption with a folded hands emoji, referring to a driver’s state of mind.

Drivers should stay fully alert and focused on both their vehicle and their surroundings to ensure safety.

Meanwhile, the collision sparked various reactions from Filipinos, with some blaming the motorcyclists for speeding.

“‘Yung mga tipong harurot lang nang harurot, menus sa menoran,” a Facebook user said.

“Tinakbuhan ng kapwa kamote hahaha, style nila talaga ‘yan ‘pag nasagi ka eh, hahaha,” another commented.

“Resing resing ba hahaha,” a different Pinoy wrote, referring to “racing.”

“Maraming ganyan kamote sa daan… ‘Di tumitingin sa side mirror… Basta lang liko [nang] liko… mga kupal,” another said.

In defensive driving, it is always advisable to check your surroundings before making any maneuver to avoid collisions. Drivers should also avoid sudden lane changes and switch lanes gradually for safety.
