A topless individual was caught on camera stealing clothes that were hung out to dry, as well as a motorcycle, in Marikina City.
CCTV footage showed a shirtless man using a clothesline rod to take several garments while light rain poured in Barangay Tumana.
Reports said the incident occurred at around 3 a.m. on November 18.
After taking the clothes, the thief was seen pushing a parked motorcycle. He stopped to look around to check if anyone was nearby, and then proceeded to steal the vehicle.
By around 7 a.m., the owner noticed that his motorcycle was already gone.
Authorities were later able to recover the motorcycle on a nearby street, but its electrical wiring and chassis had already been dismantled.
They said the suspect probably failed to start the vehicle, prompting him to abandon it.
Meanwhile, the owner said he was unable to bring his child to school or report to work because he had to take the motorcycle to a repair shop following the incident.
The garments taken from the clothesline were also not recovered by authorities.
Barangay officials said the suspect may not be a resident of the area.
A video of the footage went viral among Filipinos, with some commenting on how the suspect stole not only the motorcycle but also the clothes.
“Shopping Mall (cross emoji), Shopping door to door (check emoji),” a Facebook user wrote.
“May freebies ka pa,” another wrote, adding a laughing emoji.
Way back 2008, sinampay ko na company uniform, sinungkit lahat, pati hanger, tangay.
Stealing garments from household clotheslines is less frequently reported than thefts involving higher-value items such as vehicles.
