A photo of cats in a spaying event at Marikina City amused social media users with their poses.

Pet Fix Project, an organization hosting low-cost spaying and neutering events, shared a photo of felines appearing to be under the effects of anesthesia during surgery.

All of them also wore sunglasses to cover their eyes.

“Maraming salamat, Marikina City,” the org wrote in a Facebook post on February 27.

At that time, it held a spaying event at the Marikit Covered Court in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina.

The post has amassed 33,000 likes and reactions, 1,900 shares, and nearly 300 comments from Filipinos who expressed amusement at the photo.

“Ah, parang nag-summer outing lang sa dagat ah, haha,” a Facebook user commented.

“Di ko alam kung mag-haha or heart react ako, hahahaha, ang cuteeee,” another wrote.

“Ang cute, parang nasa beach lang sila,” a different user commented with a laughing cat emoji.

“Na para bang sun bathing sa vacation, haha,” another wrote.

A look at the Facebook page of the org reveals it is not a one-time gimmick.

Its spaying event in Cavite also had the felines wearing sunglasses for photo ops.

Spaying or neutering animals, especially strays, helps control overpopulation and contributes to longer, healthier lives.

They are also less prone to behavioral and temperament issues than their unaltered counterparts.

Moreover, spayed or neutered cats are less likely to wander or get into fights with other animals.
