Amid the fury of Typhoon Tino (International name: Kalmaegi) last week, heartbreaking scenes unfolded in Cebu.

A TikTok user captured pet dogs trapped amid the onslaught of Tino.

In two videos shared by @edesagarciano on November 7, three dogs were seen clinging to a tree while another stood stranded on a rooftop as muddy floodwaters continued to rise.

The surrounding area is heavily affected, houses submerged and vehicles carried away by the strong current. According to the uploader the dogs were eventually rescued and fed after the storm subsided.

“All of the 4 dogs were safe. We also feed them already. The two dogs has owner while the other two dogs hugging each other doesn’t have, but they were feed by us,” the TikTok user said.

The first TikTok video has so far garnered 2.5 million views, 417,700 likes, 4,397 comments, and 14,900 saves, while the second has accumulated 2.5 million views, 502,800 likes, 3,287 comments, and 17,600 saves.

TikTok users flooded the comments with sympathy for the stranded dogs and expressed anger over the flood control project issue.

“NAKAKAGALIT TALAGAAAA HAYSSS!!!! FLOOD CONTROL ANO NA!!!!!!” a TikTok user commented.

“Masama magsalita ng masma sa kapwa pero sana mga kurakot at yung mga nakinbang sa flood control na lang sana ang nandiyan hindi ang mga doggie..” one wrote.

“Kawawa 🙁 grabe san na ba kasi yung mga mananagot sa flood control project na yan,” another commented.

“If our tax was just [used] to build FLOOD CONTROL! We will not experience this. nakakagalit! Nakakaiyak!” a TikTok user commented.

“Pati sila affected ng corrupt na gobyerno,” another wrote.

Others reminded fellow pet owners to never leave their furry friends behind during calamities.

“Please lang wag po natin iwan ang mga alaga natin hayop sa kahit anong sakuna may pakiramdam din sila,” a TikTok user suggested.

“I hope this serves as a reminder for everyone to please save your babies. Don’t leave them behind. This is the moment where they need you the most, they have no one else to rely on,” another commented.

Tino dumped heavy rains in Cebu and several parts of the country, leaving 224 dead.
