Amid heavy rain and the chaos caused by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu City on Tuesday night, September 30, a pregnant woman went into labor while evacuated to the Cebu City Fire Station—and successfully gave birth on the sidewalk.
Patients and medical staff from Cebu City Medical Center had been temporarily relocated to the fire station due to the quake’s impact on hospital operations. It was there that Dr. Queen Grasya and her OB-GYN team assisted the woman, who was already due to deliver.
Dr. Grasya shared a photo on social media showing the team helping the patient, calling it “one of my unforgettable experiences of 2025.”
“My 2nd time nakapaanak og dalan” (my second time delivering on the street), she added.
The powerful quake, felt at varying intensities across Cebu and nearby areas, has so far resulted in over 70 fatalities and numerous injuries.
