“Are graphic designers on leave?”
Filipinos noticed that several brands had been simultaneously posting literal illustrations on their social media pages instead of the usual images and polished infographics.
On Thursday, September 18, Facebook page “Buhay Creative” compiled screenshots of these posts from different brands, joking that their “graphic designers” were on “leave.”
As a result, what seemed like literal illustrations appeared on the brands’ respective pages.
“San ka pumunta? Ikaw! Oo, ikaw na nagbabasa nito! Ayan, napabayaan na,” the page quipped.
Here are some posts that were not included in the compilation:
Online job board Jobstreet Philippines, meanwhile, joined in on the joke, saying that the “graphic designers” of the companies had been lurking on their platform.
“[Ang dami] [yatang] Graphic Artists na nagsasabi na naka-VL [Vacation Leave]. Don’t worry, nakita namin sila na nagbabrowse lang ng site namin. We gotchu!” it quipped.
Graphic designers and other creative producers are typically responsible for creating social media content for brands and other entities.
This work involves producing compelling visuals that capture the attention of users as they scroll through ads and other posts on their feeds.
