“Double budget.”

Such were the reactions of Filipinos after a photo of double street signs in Manila caught online attention.

On Tuesday, September 2, a physician shared a picture showing two signs he spotted along the streets of Pedro Gil and Felix.

Both bore the street names.

According to the uploader, he has been passing through the area “for the past 20 years” on his way to a nearby state university.

It has been reposted on other platforms, including the page of automotive publication VISOR.

“Mas accurate ‘to sa Waze,” it said on Facebook with sarcasm.

Others in the comments section expressed disappointment at the redundant street signs.

“Street sign project with uppercut and kickback,” a Facebook user wrote.

“Back to back signage, back to back kickback. Hahaha,” another said.

“Double budget,” a different Pinoy commented.

“Pagkapalit ng termino, palit din ng street signs, lamps, leds, baka mga halaman palit din,” another online user said.

“Pinakamadaling kumita sa pondo ng bayan,” different Pinoy commented.

“May kumita na!” another online user wrote.

Initiatives like street signage typically involve the government, which uses taxpayer funds to carry out such projects.
