Filipinos brought up an old advisory about the closed registration for a “Kasalang Bayan” or a community wedding in Bulacan, linking it to news of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s engagement.
On Wednesday, August 26, the Facebook page “Follow The Trend Movement” (FTTM), a Pinoy pop culture-oriented page, reshared a post by the group “Kulto ni Taylor Swift.” The post humorously juxtaposed the advisory with an engagement photo of the couple.
“Congrats mi, kayo pala kumuha ng huling slot ah,” a Facebook user posted on the group.
“Kaya naman pala,” the page quipped.
The post has racked up 67,000 laughing reactions, 4,000 shares and 400 comments from Filipinos.
The original advisory about the “Kasalang Bayan” was posted on the page of Baliwag City Mayor Sonia Estrella on July 28.
It announced that the registration for the city’s “Kasalang Bayan 2025” had already reached full capacity.
“Mga kalungsod, ang bilang ng mga aplikante para sa Kasalang Bayan 2025 ay naabot na. Kaugnay nito, ihihinto na natin ang pagtanggap sa mga bagong aplikasyon para sa okasyong ito,” the advisory said before.
The infographic was playfully juxtaposed with one of the photos that Taylor has uploaded on her social media, featuring her and her beau, Travis, holding each other close.
The photo was part of a set the Grammy-winning artist posted on Wednesday to announce her engagement to Travis after two years of dating.

The two started dating in 2023 after the singer performed at Arrowhead Stadium — home of Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs.
They went public when Taylor attended a Chiefs game to cheer on the National Football League player in September 2023.
By that time, she said that they were already a couple.
Taylor has won 14 Grammys, including an unparalleled four “album of the year” trophies.
Travis, meanwhile, is a tight end who has helped the Chiefs win three Super Bowls and made his career catching passes from star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. — with reports from Reuters
