Veteran actor Michael de Mesa dismissed claims about his death as “fake news.”
The actor, known for his role in the Philippine adaptation of “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” reportedly responded to a social media post that falsely claimed he had died from a “heart attack” on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 30.
“Ang Aming Taos-pusong Pakikiramay,” the post said.
A showbiz blog said that Michael reacted through Instagram Stories, saying, “FAKE NEWS.”
“Posting this from heaven,” the actor joked with a grinning-with-squinting emoji.
“I’m not the only one. Grabe na fake news ngayon. Help me report this post (false information). Thanks!” he added.
As of this writing, the post can still be seen on the Facebook platform.
Michael is currently starring in the Philippine adaptation of the Korean drama “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” where he plays the estranged father of Anne Curtis’ character, Mia.
He also appears in “FPJ’s Batang Quaipo” as Paeng Benito.
The actor, who has been in the entertainment industry since the 1970s, has starred in movies and TV series, including “Mulawin: The Movie,” “On the Job,” “Green Bones” and “Destiny Rose.”
